Letter for 2010!

Greetings Grasshopper-Darlings!
Well, it must have been a long time since I “mused” because when I opened up Cardinal Star Systems website, moths flew out. Really! I had become phobic about even going near it, but I've come through my paralysis and inspired by the excitement (and angst!) of the up-and-coming aspects, I'm here with The Message!
2010-2012 is ALL ABOUT the Cardinal Cross, already begun by Pluto and Saturn, soon to become even MORE dramatic in the spring when these planets will be joined by Uranus and Jupiter.  Quite frankly, this is the most intense year I have EVER seen 'in the stars' and I mean EVER--historically, and in my own four decades of planetary pondering!
One more thing...
There will be a monthly Musing, sort of a frothy thing—I was creating a calendar and it was the too-long-to-print version (the short one is now on a very groovy Moon Calendar and is available to you, if you stop by to get it!) but here is the on-line version and it will let you know the wassup of it for that month—so merry happy, a gift from my muddled mind to you all...I am touched that you have read what I have written throughout the years, and grateful that you concerned yourselves for me, and this once a month thing I think I can handle—so it's all going up on line today. Happy New Year, I love you all and appreciate being invited into your lives!
Love,
PJ

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so it came to pass that we have arrived at our much anticipated destination: The year of 2010!
It's not as famous as 2012 (The End of the World, ahem) but it's close and very widely speculated about by astrologers, astronomers and geologists (more on that one as we go along)! Sooner or later, all things must pass, and then, of course, other things begin—astrologically, this is the theme of these Times—aspects that represent The End giving way to aspects that represent The Beginning!
Since 1995, at least one (and in the last three years three out of five) of the outer planets with lengthy orbit patterns have been traveling through the last signs of each season called The Mutables. Since these are the signs at the end, they have the wisdom of experience of having been through the season, but often reflect the insecurity that comes with impending change and transition. In the physical world, these months generally reflect transitioning weather conditions that often occur as one season gives way to the next. Metaphorically, these aspects bring the same insecurity to the 'climate' of our collective state-of-minds as they do to the changing temperature.
The four mutable signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are known as emotional, nervous, brilliant, creative and insecure...as archetypes...and are frequently virtuosos in the world of art and science where a “different sort of mind” is just the ticket needed to break through standard thought! They “invented” thinking outside the box but they are also known to have restless minds and a higher than average amount of ADD, ADHD, & various conditions on the Autism spectrum. The last few years when the 'sky' above has been lined with planets traveling through this energy have been very creative years but have also been quite divisive and paranoid...nervous conditions abound and Big Pharma is a happy industry, with it's sales for mind altering “Soma” going through the roof throughout the population. Are we doomed to get more discombobulated in the years to come? Well, maybe not—enter,
The Cardinals!!
Mutables end our seasons, but The Cardinals begin them! The four cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, each sign appearing first at either the spring or fall equinox or the summer or winter solstice. Representing initiation, the beginning of any project or enterprise will also contain anxiety, but these beginnings are a different sort of anxiety than the mutable kind; it's the anxiety of The Unknown!  It is the energy of creation, vision and anticipation! The Cardinals are filled with desire—they WANT this new thing, idea, person, event. We begin each season with an almost child-like enthusiasm and passion (admit it—doncha feel that way when the seasons change?) Over the next three years, four out of five of the outer planets will align in Cardinals, and they will enter these signs within mere months of each other! You all have NO IDEA how unusual this is! Because they are all at the beginning together, mathematically their relationship will be close, and will create an aspect called a T 'square'. This aspect is one of change and alchemy, but it is often felt as intensity—I mean, do we ever change willingly? I have never seen this many planets enter an alignment together before, and the fact that they are all Cardinal is a big, darn deal. Each one of these planets makes a splash on their own, but all together? Anyway, let's take 'em one at a time and you can see what I mean.
Always first (to me!) is our stellar, most consistent, and most reliable example of planetary influence. The award goes to Saturn, who's very nature is about consistency and predictability! On a personal level, we're certainly all familiar with Saturn's pattern of angle change which comes every seven years and is known by everyone as the seven year itch!. The pattern that's so intriguing, however, is Saturn's complete orbit pattern from 27-30 years. This aspect (the Saturn Return) often coincides with major events that involve the government, (Saturn's ruling sign, Capricorn is the sign of government) .
You all remember the most famous illustration of this phenomenon, right? It occurred early in the last decade (last decade, can you believe that?!) when Saturn entered the sign of Gemini. In the USA's chart (July 4, 1776) our collective Mars, the God of War is in the sign of Gemini...and every time Saturn enters Gemini, our country experiences a major aggression. The most recent one turned our world upside down—yup, it was the Trade Center bombings of 9-11! The Saturn transit twenty-eight years before that was the Watergate break-in, which had everyone in a tither as well! Twenty-eight years before that was WW Two, and twenty-eight years before that WW One—interesting, eh?
Saturn is an especially powerful planet in transit at this time as on October 29, 2009, Saturn entered the sign of Libra and in the chart of the USA, (a country that officially declared it's independence and was “born” on the 4th of July, 1776) and Saturn, on that day, was 14 degrees of Libra. Yup, that means we have officially begun our 8th Saturn Return!
You all have heard that phrase, right? Saturn Return's are a major rite of passage for everyone. As individuals, we all know that at the end of our 20's , we feel like we have to get it together—and it is the time when most individuals choose “what they're going to be when they grow up”. The next one comes at the end of our 50's—and many of us retire, kids leave home and then we realize that we have a scarcity of time and we have to get a move on in order to get it together and finally figure out “what we're going to be when we grow up”! Whether a person, a country, a corporation or an idea, any time Saturn returns, it is a time of re-evaluation and a deep need for a directional change.
When the Declaration of Independence was signed, there was a line-up of planets in the sign of Cancer. Saturn was exactly 'square' (a stress aspect) the Sun, and this gives the citizens of this country a greater feeling of vulnerability and worries of scarcity—in spite of our great wealth! Ironically, every time Saturn returns to Libra the US is always in some kind of crisis, usually a financial recession (especially since all of the USA's planets in the sign of Cancer fall in the 8th house of collective money!) If you research the Saturn Return Presidencies, you will see recessions ALL and a major crisis or two!
Google these guys—here are all eight of our Saturn Return Presidents...
1) Thomas Jefferson
2) Andrew Jackson
3) Abraham Lincoln (!)
4) Grover Cleveland (his 2nd elected term)
5) Harding (died in office after 1st year) then Coolidge
6) Harry Truman
7) Ronald Regan
8) Barack Obama
All presided under a recession, depression or time of great challenge to this country.
Saturn Returns are really big deals, and Saturn is currently located on the Western side of our Zodiac wheel, but this time it's not returning alone....
We have one more return here in the USA, one that started last year. In January of 2008, for the first time in 248 years, Pluto returned to Capricorn—it was 27 degrees of Capricorn when the USA was born!
Remember that Capricorn is the sign of government? The last time our outermost planet Pluto was in Capricorn, we 'created' the USA, a divine experiment! We struck a blow for a brave new way! Our intention was to create a government where there was freedom from tyranny, freedom from debtors prisons, freedom from religious persecution, and freedom TO BE whatever we hoped to be. At least, (at first) if we were white and we were male. How are we doing with that these days? Humm...from 39% interest on our debts to scary encroachment from religious lobbies affecting our freedoms, it seems like Pluto has not returned a minute too soon! It will be in Capricorn till 2023, so it might take a while for us to straighten things out again. Sigh. Why is it so hard for us to respect the fact that each of us have different needs? Maybe that day will come...these ARE breakthrough aspects! By the way, Capricorn is Cardinal Winter and it's on the North end of the circle.
So, in 2008-09 the Cardinal Cross began first with Pluto entering Capricorn and then Saturn entering Libra, but the piece de la resistance is yet to come.. and it's a REALLY BIG one! When a planet enters a sign it's called an ingress and on May 27, 2010, the planet Uranus will ingress into the sign of Aries for the first time in 84 years! Aries is Cardinal spring, a sign located directly on the Eastern Horizon of our chart and is the 'official' beginning of The Zodiac! Each time any planet hits Aries, there is a disturbance in The Force!
The last time Uranus entered Aries was 1927—and we all remember those were indeed 'interesting times'! Uranus stays in a sign for seven years (it's that 7 thing again!). Although this ingress begins in May, Uranus, planet of awakenings and breakthroughs and science and revolution will retrograde after a couple of months, but will return in March of 2011 and stay for the full seven years.
So we all remember the Great Depression that occurred under the last Uranus in Aries transit, but since we're looking at patterns, what about 84 years before that?  Well, twas 1845 and the time of The Great Potato Famine of Ireland!  It was all about immigration 'wars' and poverty, and struggle and change—it was also when Charles Dickens wrote Scrooge,bringing an awareness of the unfair economic discrepancies occurring so blatantly at that time.  It was a time of awakening and the beginning of doing something about those discrepancies!  Uranus, the liberator to the rescue!  Both of these cycles (1845-1832 and 1927-1935) things changed so quickly and there were revolutions overthrowing the status quo all over the world.  We watched 'the rule of the day' topple and the times give rise to the power of the individual, supported by  the collective: ie The Government!  Remember when our government was “We The People”? We were directly connected to our government, and it was connected to us.  Of course, all that change came via much collective suffering...things got SO BAD for the individual there was nothing left to loose....so we did what FDR requested:  He said, “Make me do it” and we did.  The birth of Social Security came in 1935—at the end of the 7 year transit of Uranus in Aries! But hey, there's one more planet that joins the line up in our 2010 Cardinal party.
It's our biggest planet Jupiter, known for bringing exaggeration to any aspect he comes in contact with.  If something wonderful is happening, Jupiter makes it BETTER, if something dreadful is happening, Jupiter makes it BIGGER...Jup is a planet with a 12 year orbit, and will join Uranus to make a splash entry into Aries (for a quickie—it will enter in June 5 but return to Pisces on September 8) and will re-enter for the BIG alignment in 2011.  By the way, the last time Jupiter was in Aries was 1999—in time for the big Clinton party so the government was occupied with THAT weird event.  “We” become indignant and even allow impeachment for issues involving sex (which is always connected to lying—which was the actual legal impeachable offense)  but we do not impeach a president for torture and killing.  (If you were an alien from the planet Zoron, wouldn't you find that truly strange?)
Okay, so that makes 4 out of 5 of the outer planets ingressing into Cardinal signs—and here's the geological part of the deal: every earthquake, tsunami, and major geological calamity has at least one major outer planet aligned on the cardinal points (since these are on the equator and axis) and soon we will have FOUR of them! (ed. Note:  this was written in December , before the Eureka, California quake and the series of quakes in Haiti)
Okay, does that mean we will have catastrophe's like the 2012 movie?  Is this truly THE END?
Guess what?  WHO KNOWS!!!!!!!????  Yes, these aspects very often bring a shake, rattle and roll...but NOT every TIME....I looked!
Astrology is the practice of observing the patterns the planets in our solar system make as they move through their orbit, noticing the similarities of events that occur when those patterns repeat, and anticipating (sometimes by predicting) a certain result based on how often those patterns occurred in the past.  But there are so many factors involved with events, well, you know the Buddhist saying, right?  “You can never step into the same river twice”   Thus it is.  Besides,  Mother Earth is very coy about yielding up the answers to her secrets. She just smiles and seems to say, “It's a Mystery”.
We all feel the rumble that change is needed and important.  Culturally, politically, geologically we stand on different sides for our own personal reasons and/or beliefs.  The truth is, however, we all feel the same thing: we are in a time of profound lack of balance, and a very large lack of fairness!
What is a depression?  Isn't it interesting that we call our economic dark times a word that expresses a psychologically down time of our life?  An economic depression is a time when we feel like there is a scarcity of money.  Do we really believe that there are less resources?  Well, guess what? There is just as much as there always was or ever was, it is simply dammed up the 'tube' it runs through has been depressed and held by few and does not flow.  And GUESS what?  THESE CARDINAL ASPECTS TRADITIONSLLY BREAK THE DAM!  At least they have historically.  Will they this time?  We'll see.
So, heck, what an astrological party we all came to.  I, for one, wouldn't have missed it for the world.
So let's all VISION these aspects are here to help to create a beautiful, healthy and FAIR new world!  Why not?  We can vision this as easily as we can use our minds to vision our fears.  Change begins with a vision, and is then implemented with a plan.
That said,  I wish you all a terrific time in this potentially change-filled era.  May truth, justice and human decency prevail, and may this be the decade we all come to respect each other and the differences  we each bring to our world.  Give Peace a chance...what a great idea.  Peace outside in the world, peace inside of our hearts.
Welcome 2010!
