Monday October 3, 2005
We arise this morning to a world that has already been ‘eclipsed’. At 3:28 a.m. here on the west coast of the USA, this celestial event occurred without fanfare, but if you were in Spain you would have watched the Sun darken as the shadow of the Moon moved across most of the disk of Old Sol.
I have told you all before that eclipses baffle me. I have tried to discern their effects (separate from other aspects that are going on around the same time) but I can not distinguish what specifics belong to this remarkable phenomenon.
It IS interesting to note, however, that today’s Solar eclipse is taking place in the sign of Libra, the sign of ‘justice’ and ‘fairness’ and today W. has nominated his friend and White House aid, Harriet Miers, often called his personal ‘pit bull’ to be the nominee for the seat that Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wishes to vacate. It is really perfect, when you think about it. An eclipse is; “lights out”, and with the lights going out in the sign of justice, on the day of this woman’s appointment, it just makes me think that the ‘stars’ are trying to tell us something!
Ms. Miers is an attorney. She represents the likes of Microsoft and Disney, just to name a few. Yes, she’s a corporate gal. This means, if you are not nuts about working for $6.95 an hour without benefits, you will most likely not see her as your personal ‘best friend’. Oh, yeah, and she has worked against stem cell research and for social security ‘reform’ and, of course, the ever popular favorite—tax cuts for that very special
1 % of humans who dwell here in the Land of Milk and Honey.
Still, to be fair, I can not imagine that W. could suggest ANYONE that I would be happy with, as he and I see life quite differently, and his concerns and friends (the infamous 1%) are not my personal ‘tribe’. Anyway, it just seemed too ‘pat’ the day that the lights went out in the sign of justice, W. appointed his personal attorney to the Supreme Court bench. Excuse me—does anyone else have a bad feeling about this?
Okay, I realize I go a bit more political than many of you would like (and not enough for others—can’t please everyone!) so if you want a more complete and ‘fair and balanced’ review of this phenomenon, go to http://cainer.com/ericfrancis/eric.html and read what he has to say. It’s really great and you will get way more solid info on eclipses in general.
Other than our Moon boldly crossing her ‘significant other’, the Sun, today she does this while she is sextiling Saturn in Leo (er, did it—this already occurred at 1:07 a.m.) and sextiling Pluto at 9:18 a.m.
Who says a gal can’t ‘multi-task’?!
These sextiles are an air to fire connection, and we mortals will feel energized and capable enough and that’s a good thing, this being a Monday and all, as it is a Monday’s duty to shape the week ahead.
At high noon today (12:26, to be precise), Luna in Libra will draw support from Neptune in Aquarius with an exact air trine. This trine will help her ‘recover’ from her bold move to ‘cross’ her lover, the Sun, and she and Neptune take refuge in a good fantasy. They talk about a different world, they ‘get high’ from each other’s company. There is lightness to this aspect, a welcome break from the dark of the eclipse. We mortals will feel this energy and be heartened, but alas, it is only a momentary break in the harsh ‘reality’ of life on Terra Firma, circa 2005. Heck, speaking of break, it being a Monday and all, the illusion is not a bad place to spend your lunch break.
Anyway, I’m off to do my Monday stuff. “The opinions of the speaker are not necessarily those of this station”. Ha, ha…just stay alert….don’t snooze when they turn the ‘lights’ out, you might miss something important!
