October 5, 2005

It’s a Wednesday here on this odd little remote outpost, planet Earth.  Today’s starring aspect is a tie—is it the ‘oh, so connected’ Moon in Scorpio?  Or is it the exact conjunction of Jupiter and Mercury in Libra, scheduled for the 2:39 p.m. matinee?

Hard to say, but we Earthlings will feel the effects of this Titanic competition, and it’s a toss up if we give ourselves to our emotions (Moon, of course) or our ‘Big Mind’ (Merc/Jup).

In Buddhism, the term Big Mind is about the overview, or staying in the bigger truth.  You all remember THE truth, doncha Grasshoppers?  The big truth is that we know exactly DIDDLY!  This is a good thing to keep in mind these days.  It’s when we think we know what’s going on and why, that we feel so helpless.  Remember, it’s a game that we play blindfolded and we are not told the object of the game, or the rules. What we DO get is our sense of humor.  Life without a sense of humor is like heading off across the dessert without water.  Just silly!  Use yours today!

Anyway, that is an example of Mercury conjunct Jupiter ponderings.  Way more philosophical than I have the Chi for this morning, so I’m sticking with talking about the Moon.

Today our Luna is in a very busy mode, as she is traveling through Scorpio and Scorpio is fixed water (like ice!), and the ‘Fixedies’ rule the sky these days! (That would be those security-loving signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.)

For the next two years, every month when the Moon is in the mysterious and sultry sign of Scorpio, it will make many major aspects with all but one (Pluto) of the outer planets.   The first aspect is the one, lonely trine.  At 7:09 a.m.  Luna will trine Uranus, planet of awakening.  This is not a remote or remarkable aspect, but it is still a helpful one.  I suppose it occurring today at 7:09 a.m. this ‘awakening’ could just be about getting up early, but if the influence from Uranus is strong in our own natal chart, we might arise with our imaginations in gear and our minds in line with our bodies.  That would be a great way to start the day, eh?

At 10:28 a.m., ‘no more Ms. Nice Guy’, trines are over and the monthly ‘shake down’ occurs.  Every month for the next two years, when the Moon is either sailing through Scorpio, or its opposite sign, Taurus, it will make two significant squares.

The first one (for about a year & six months or so) will always be the square to Saturn, as Saturn will be in the early degrees of Leo.  (Today’s aspect is exact at 10:28 a.m.) Following this transit will come the square to illusive Neptune. (Not until 8:55 p.m.)

Since this will occur on a regular basis, do consider making that little ‘Moon Log’ I have mentioned in the past.  Just jot a one-word feeling or thought on your calendar on the big Fixed Sign days (which I will let you know about) and see what/if/how these intense aspects might affect your day.  You know, THIS is the way you really learn the influences of the planets!  Give yourselves a few months before you go back over your notes to see if there is any rhyme or reason to it, but eventually you will see that it is NOT your mind alone that creates havoc, your mind is responding to ‘radio signals’ (for lack of a better way of describing the astrological phenomenon) from our companions in space (that is, the rest of the planets in our solar system).

One very practical way to apply this knowledge, is by planning your special events.  Scheduling a job interview?  Check your calendar!  This way, you will know if this day is your friend, or your adversary and you can prepare psychologically and physically for it.  Awareness makes EVERY DAY your day!  If you know yourself, you have an edge.

Okay, that said, fixed squares make me hungry (I know this for a fact) and I’m off to get my breakfast.

Enjoy this luscious fall day.
