From: Pam B Clair To: Pam Burns-Clair Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2008 12:14 PM Subject: My appeal to Obama re: Rick Warren
FYI, I sent the following suggestion to www.change.gov re: his choice for the inaugural invocation--FYI--you may want to offer your own? Peaceful holidays to all P
In light of the brewing if not raging controversy about the pick of Rick Warren to give the inaugural invocation, given his stance on gay marriage & Prop 8, yet the pick of Joseph Lowery to also lead a prayer, it seems that Obama is at risk of fueling the same divisiveness that Americans are so weary of from the campaign and the Bush legacy. I propose that he make the alteration, under the circumstances, of asking both men of faith to CO-LEAD the invocation, such that both of their contrasting/opposing views are held in equal status and esteem, more in keeping with Obama's promise to embrace differences. It would certainly appease the progresssive community who feels so offended by his choice of Rick Warren and demonstrate that he's listening and flexible in his approach as our chief. Thanks for listening & offering us this venue to speak our minds!

WOW...ask and ye shall receive!
This just in from my friend Renee, wonderful letter!..{Ed}
An open letter to our new president:
Dear Mr. President,
First, congratulations for your astounding accomplishment. You are now a marker in the history of one of the great nations of the Earth. May your shoulders be strong enough to carry the load, your heart light enough to enjoy life while you work, and your energy abundant enough to make it through each day.
And now, as citizens, we would like to share our views with you, so that you, our elected representative, can help us put our will into action. Here are two ideas that we think, hope and feel will improve the state of the nation and everyone's lives:
1) As you have inherited a budget deficit and economic situation that is crippling our standard of living, we suggest that you cut costs in the areas of greatest spending. In other words, the Defense Department. We suggest that you bring *all* American troops home. Home from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan. Home from bases in Europe, in Africa, in Asia. Let Americans live in America. That requires less expense of food, transportation, and supplies. You will not need to pay out millions in government contracts to support the troops overseas. Our soldiers at home can work at rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. Just as they learn to dig trenches and build fortifications in various conditions in other countries, here they can learn to rebuild levees, bridges, tunnels, and highways. They can build schools, desalination plants, irrigation systems. They can build the tracks for bullet trains. They can be taught how to harness energy from the Sun, and Wind, from Water and Heat. Mothers will not grieve when their children join the military, because the militia will be battling only poverty, lack of education, and decay. People will not protest the national forces, because the national forces will be creating a new nation, one in which every citizen takes pride. The money for these programs is already in place, Mr. President. The great percentage of each American's income tax that now supports war, killing, and subjugation across the globe can be redirected here at home. The billions spent on private companies servicing troops can be spent on paychecks for working soldiers who are rebuilding America. This solves many problems at once: we use our money on our own people, our people have jobs, our country is improved, and our reputation around the world is salvaged and ameliorated. You won your campaign as a leader of radical change, Mr. President. This suggestion is a radical change in direction, away from aggressive imperialism to a new focus on healing and taking care of our own. There are precedents, as you of course know, in FDR's alphabet programs of the 1930s, and we have faith that you can find new ways as well.
2) We, as citizens of this great country, are willing to pay income tax each year. We benefit from those taxes. However, many of us are dismayed and disheartened by the use of those taxes. Many of us try to find ways (legal, of course) to reduce what the government takes from us, because we do not agree with the government's spending. We suggest that from now on, the government issue tax forms that include a list of departments whose budgets depend on the federal income tax. For instance, listed on the form would be the Defense Department, Health & Welfare, and the Department of the Interior. Just as state ballot initiatives come with brief descriptions of their funding and affects, so the tax form could include statements as to exactly what the Defense Department, the Department of Health & Welfare, and the Department of the Interior do with their money each year. On the form, next to each department, is a box in which each citizen can list the percentage of their income tax they wish to delegate to that department. Those who wish to fund the Defense Department can allocate their taxes there. Those who wish to put their tax dollars to work on maintaining national parks and recreation areas can do that. We believe you will find a more accurate picture of the will of the people when you ask us just where we'd like our tax money to go. {I have ALWAYS thought this woud be the way to do this! It would keep everything in balance, good one, Renee...Ed}It will surely cost money, time, and energy to implement this new system of taxation, but we believe that every American would be willing to vote on how their money is spent, and that few would protest spending part of the first few years of taxes on allowing them to do so.
You are an intelligent and educated man, Mr. President, and we have faith in your ability to find ways turning disaster into new directions. We elected you, and we stand behind you in that, ready to work together.
Thank you for your time. May your term as leader of our nation go down in history as the one that changed us into the healthiest, strongest, most compassionate country on the planet.
{Editor's Note: Ha ha, I love saying that...!}
Here's the first of our new column, thanks to my friend Kendra(who was born with three planets in the 8th house plus the North Node--the house of detectives and spies) doing some research on the dates of our new president. Without a basic grasp of astrology, you might get lost...in the future I hope to have more time to edit...but remember that my cat, BatCat got a terrible injury? He is feeling MUCH better now but he still can not go outside so he is here yowling and yowling...sharing his pain--the pain of not being out in the sunlight, that is, so I can't THINK...hense the shortened editing, still, there's some interesting facts here...enjoy...and don't forget, you are invited to write and share!
Letters
PJ,
I was looking at Obama's chart and current transits, and (since
Saturn just went into my tenth and I am trying to come to terms with
that energy) noticed Saturn nearing the end of his tenth {the House of Leadership--Ed}. so I
scrolled it back to the main entrance, which was Sept 13th, 2006.
Then I checked a timeline and found that on October 22, 2006 he
announced he was considering a run for the Presidency, and on Jan.
16th , 2007 announced his candidacy. If that isn't the epitome of
the work hard to achieve your goals message of Saturn in the 10th I
don't know what is!
It looks like he wrote "the Audacity of Hope" while Saturn was in his
9th. {The House of writing and publishing--Ed} (I'm leaving out the Grammies)
I don't want to be president, by the way ;^) {But you SO could be, Kendra!-Ed}
Saturn came up to orb to conjunct his Uranus, went retrograde, and
was retrograde in January when he announced. March 11th it slid back
into his 9th (Obama endorses Chicago alderman dorothy Tillman) with
station direct on April 19, 2007, at 18 degrees Leo, 9 min (small
controversy about his Myspace page). On May 29th Saturn re-enters
the 10th house ( Campaign releases sophisticated Facebook
application) , and conjuncts natal Uranus on July 26, 2007. (june
19th he turns down public financing) {Uranus is the rebel-Ed}
Sept 2, 2007, Saturn moves into Virgo, still in the tenth. See april
below for aspects to natal chart.)
Station, Rx Dec 19, 2007, at 8 virgo 34, sextile natal Neptune in the
12th.
2008:
January, wins Iowa Caucuses (Jan 31, 2008 Rx Saturn conjunct n. Pluto
at 6 virgo 58) (Feb. 23, 2008, Rx saturn conjunct n. part of fortune
at 5 Virgo 13.)
April, Saturn stations at 01 Virgo, 41, semisextile n. Mercury @
01Leo48, sextile n. Venus @ 01 cancer 29, square n. Moon at 00
geminii 01 and quincunx n.Jupiter at 00 Aquarius 53. Saturn station
Direct on May third.
June 3rd, locks the nomination
June 13th Mars moves into the 10 house, and Pluto in the 2nd Rx's
back into Sag. June 19th Rx Moons North node leaves 10th house.
Transiting Mars conjuncts Transiting Saturn conjunct natal part of
fortune.
August 28th, Accepts the nomination
Nov 4th. elected President.
2009
January Starts Presidency
there may be more, but that is as far as I got.
My grand trine is being activated, and I am looking for a job
consistent with my values. I want to work with an open heart.
Take care,
Kendra
