Guess what everyone?  It's 11:00, I've been writing all morning, and when I put it up, I said, "I can't say that"!  So, I have to go, I will write when I can be positive. Oh yeah, the Moon is in Pisces all day!

Moon goes Void in Aquarius @ 8:00 a.m. Enters Pisces @ 2:32 p.m.

Moon in Aquarius sextile Pluto in Sagittarius @ 8:00 a.m.

Even though this is likely (baring a miracle) the day when we will see our Supreme Court move out of reach to The People, I can not help feeling like it is all part of a big plan.  Humans are fond of learning the hard way.  I think that it’s because we do not learn with our minds, we learn with our senses.  We do not understand the ramifications of poor leadership until we follow the leader 'off a cliff'.  Just ask someone from New Orleans.  We’ll (no doubt) see.  Sometimes we sail East to get West, and with this new Chinese New Year, The Year of the Dog, I wonder if that is what we are doing.

My brain was very busy this morning before I got up.  I was thinking about things that I read about being in The Year of the Dog, and the book that I quoted Saturday which defines this Chinese sign as one of ‘the Left’ and ‘for the people’. My mind, pondering, asked its usual ‘research’ question—what happened twelve years ago?  Guess the answer?  Bill Clinton was elected!

I remember being so excited at the time—wow—a Democratic president!  Year of the Dog all right—the last one was Feb 1994-Jan 1995; Clinton was elected in 1993, and he took office in 1994.

This was a period of prosperity and opportunity for many, but Clinton is not a ‘left’ sort of guy.  He was more ‘left’ than (Papa) Bush #1, so I suppose the Year of the Dog delivered what it promised, still, Clinton was a man with perspective.  Remember, he was raised by a single mother who had little money.  Everything he achieved, he had to get the hard way, so in that way he was actually ONE of the people!  He did bring this perspective to his governing.  It is hard to grasp poverty if you have never experienced it. (Like He Who Shall Not Be Named.)

Of course, one time back does not a theory prove, so back we go twelve years, and this time we land smack in the middle of the Reagan Era!!  No left there! Reagan was so far right, I’m sure there were many organizations ‘born’ at that time to try to protect people and to keep things centered, but I did not have time for research.  Anyone have any stories of ‘people power’ that took place from Jan ’82-Feb of ’83?

Next time back, 1970-71, Richard Nixon was ‘driving the bus’!  Still, this was an era that we all remember as Flower Power!  Make Love Not War and ‘Power to the People’ were the chants of the times.  The Black Panthers, EST, Norman Lear, and every musician, artist and writer spoke of a new way of being—and, of course, eventually the politics of the day (Nixon was so tame, we had no IDEA how much ‘executive misuse of power’ could occur!) did give way to a time of more ‘liberal’ leanings after Nixon was impeached and left the White House.  In spite of how Jimmy Carter is perceived, (high interest rates do NOT define a president alone!) he created many programs that allowed veterans, underprivileged, and those who had been previously excluded from power to join ‘the table’ and receive the support and respect that allow a person to develop their potential.  Many people thrived at that time.

I get caught up talking about Politics (bear with me, nobody’s perfect) because it is how we move together as a ‘body collective’.  Even though politics is about ‘leadership’, it is very important to remember that the changes that have influenced the way we live our lives, come mostly from developments in Science and Art, not politics!

Anyway, we are in a new Chinese New Year, and these observations are about the outer world.   Your personal assignment is to remember and look for your own ‘theme’.  What was going on in your own world the last time The Dog was guiding the year?

Responding to my request for a good website, David Grey sends this link (check it out) and look at the dates of previous Dog years, and think back.  Don’t forget, Grasshoppers, the Science of Astrology (whether it is Western, Vedic or Chinese) is based upon collecting data and observing similarities, the Art is what you make of it!

Moon in Aquarius

Moon in Aquarius oppose Saturn in Leo @ 3:24 a.m.
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Sun in Aquarius @ 6:15 a.m.
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Mercury in Aquarius @ 9:37 a.m.
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Neptune in Aquarius @ 6:03 p.m.
Moon in Aquarius square Jupiter in Scorpio @ 6:14 p.m.

Well, after aspects like the ones we had on Friday, (where we were treated to every possible conjunction, square and trine there is!) it’s no wonder that the next day, Saturday, The Heavens declare a ‘Day of Rest’!  There will be no exact aspects today, and in fact, for most of the early part of the day, Luna will hang out in the Void Spa, getting a manicure and massage. (Am I projecting again?)

Well, she really needs a chance for the rest—because by Sunday, our Ms. Luna is deep in some very demanding aspects—she must merge with (conjunct) three different planets today!  You know how conjunctions go—she must blend and light up any planet that she comes in contact with.

First up, is her conjunction with the Sun.  Yes, very good Grasshoppers, you’re right!  That means that it IS the New Moon! Gold star to every one of you who remembered.  This New Moon is at 6:15 a.m., so papers out; we have until two in the afternoon to write our intentions….

Luna doesn’t stop there, after she goes ‘new’ with the Sun, in her frisky new state of mind, she aligns with Mercury, and as she is energetic, and newly charged with her infusion of solar power, so she is ready to think, plan, and create—yippee!

All well and wonderful these aspects, but the frosting of them all is the final conjunction of the day.  Twelve hours into the new moon, beautiful Luna will merge with the mystical, illusive, magician Neptune—ah, what an interesting three planet alignment that scores the chart of the New Year—because yes, it is an aspect that will last all year long—it is the Chinese New Year (always the first New Moon after January) and we leave the Rooster behind, and we enter The Year of The Dog.

Now, I googled to find a cool and unique web site to link to, but I wasn’t able to get very deep into it, I’m sure there are some spectacular sites, I am just running late (yeah, that’s different) so if you find a good one, send it on and I will share it with all Dujourians, thanks!

I have a book which has always been interesting to me.  The author breaks down the year (Chinese Astrology) into personal influences, how each of the twelve animals are affected during the year, and the general influence on ‘The Collective’.  As a person who views the politics of the day with interest (how do you like that subtle statement—you who have seen me spit fire) I found what was written about The Year of the Dog very interesting.

From Chinese Astrology by Paula Delsol, published in 1989 (I think, it’s early and my Roman numeral brain is rusty) by Hippocrene Books:

First, let me tell you what this book says about The Rooster, which was last year:

“A hard year.  It will be necessary to work hard to make a living.  Risk of unemployment.  Money isn’t going to fall into your lap—nor food into the Rooster’s beak—without effort.”

“The Rooster isn’t going to put up with any nonsense trifling with law and order; there’ll he no joking with those who disturb the status quo.  A year of reaction, therefore, with an abundance of uniforms in the name of the law—though in fact they are worn for their own sake.  Military parades.  Reviews.  Risks of the abuse of police powers.”

“A good year for military careers.  Now is the time to ask for a medal or buy your way into the Honors List.”

“Young Cocks born in the spring will be less aggressive”

Interesting, eh?  Now for the Year of the Dog:

“You’ll be pessimistic, anxious, and worrying about your future.  You’ll be on the defensive all the time—but full of generosity and goodwill too.”

“A year with plenty of political action.  Things veer suddenly towards a more liberal approach. Idealism. Possibility of revolution. (I didn’t make this up, it’s verbatim! Pj)

“A year, in fact, favorable to the Left, to grandiose schemes and to disinterested, generous acts.”

Well, you know how I feel about this!  As with all predictions (and I know this, believe me) the bottom line is:  We’ll see…..

Happy New Moon and New Year….whatever it brings, I hope it brings each of you what your heart desires!

Moon in Capricorn trine Mars in Taurus @ 11:57 p.m.

Good Goddess, all mighty—check out the aspects we are sailing under today!

Every size, style and color of celestial circumstance lines the ceiling of our ‘reality’ today, and the way things are going ‘out there’, that means there will be spin, spin, spin….

Mercury opposes Saturn and Jupiter squares Neptune, for example, and they just mess with our minds.  We do not even remember what’s ‘real’ and what’s ‘made up’! (Actually, it’s all made up, isn’t it?)

Then, of course, there’s  Venus sextile Jupiter, and Moon conjunct Venus, well, that is scheduled to entertain us so charmingly that we won’t even CARE that our minds are being messed with! (Can’t wait!)

Today so far (for me) has truly exhibited these transits.  Unexpected incoming phone calls to answer, emails I really need time to respond to, and a report for Sky on our Heritage to edit (grr, last minute again) and here we are, a day of exceptional star activity, at the crossroads of civilization, and my mind is on ‘freeze hold’ again!  Still, the one thread is the week long reverie of our Asteroid/Planetoid friend, Chiron, and to complete this weeks Chiron Chronicles, here is a passage written by the wonderful astrologer, Eric Francis of Planet Waves:

"Give Me Your Very Best Lame Excuse

I have written a number of times before that Chiron in Aquarius (a cycle that is just beginning) would help us see all that we had been missing during the years of Neptune in Aquarius (about half over, dating back to the Clinton impeachment). Chiron has an unusual gift for making the qualities of the outer planets manifest in some perceptible, tangible form. Chiron raises awareness and, in so doing, stirs the pot.

Chiron is an antidote to the most annoying properties of Neptune. Neptune has a quality where something just happened, and if you happen to even notice (or maybe you were just dreaming), you don't know quite what it was, much less when it happened, or why. Neptune can manifest as a foggy light of consciousness, or an unfocused projection of an image. It is often the intuition we don't listen to, or the ideal we get lost in.

Chiron is like a magnifying lens that can focus that light and allow you to see what's going on. The thing about Chiron is, you get the picture, you get the real information, and then you're responsible for what you know."

Well said, Eric! Keep your eyes open, fellow Earthlings, they're moving those shells around that table very quickly these days!

Moon in Sagittarius goes Void @ 2:12 p.m. Enters Capricorn @ 2:31 p.m.

Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Pluto in Sagittarius @ 7:24 a.m.
Sun in Aquarius conjunct Mercury in Aquarius @ 1:34 p.m.

Day Three of the Chiron Chronicles…..

I was on a roll yesterday.

Chiron was at the back of my brain all day, and after I shut my computer down, I saw that my Millennium By the Year book was still open on my desk.  Thinking to get a head start with the next day’s Dujour, I couldn’t get my Chiron ephemeris on line (shut the machine off for the night) so I just ‘guesstimated’ it.  By my calculations (every 50 years) the next transit back for Chiron, was likely (1905-50) 1855!

The page for 1855 yielded….humm….ab-so-lut-ly nothing!  Oh, there were plenty of activates, things were published, a waterfall was named after the Queen and there was a plague here and there, but none of the tell-tale revolutionary stuff that I was looking for to prove my point!

Well, I thought, Chiron is a five-year transit in Aquarius, so I jumped a page up, and in 1856, all heck had broken out!  In fact, it could have been the front page of Google today!

“Bloodshed grows as Chinese rebels split” A treaty to “civilize” Ottoman empire “US adventurer seizes power in Nicaragua” Kiwis “capable of ruling themselves” “Pro-slavery gang attacks abolitionists”  “Assassin’s bomb fails to kill Napoleon 3rd”

Okay, now we’re talking!  So this a.m., before writing Dujour, I thought I would double-check just when Chiron actually WENT into Aquarius, and guess what?  It wasn’t there at all in 1855—it arrived in 1856!!  Viva la Revolution!  Time to get hopping!

You know, though, as I turned page after page of my world history book, I realized what a deranged group of mammals we are.  Hardly a page goes by that we are not happily engaged in war after war, pillage and torture—it seems like W and his friends and their “addiction” to war and “unlimited money and power” are so well, normal.  It’s the person who wants to just farm, make love and have the neighbors over for a stewed mutton casserole who is the anomaly.  What’s an ordinary humanoid to do?

Well, there is always one other expression of Aquarius.  Aquarius ‘rules’ scientific breakthroughs!!!  Do you think we will ever find that ‘spot’ on our brain that wants to destroy every thing in sight, and then change it?  Would we even WANT to correct it?  After all, it’s so much FUN to blow the planet to smithereens!

Anyway, too important to put in the Good to Know column and be ignored, following today’s entry you will find numbers to call to encourage a filibuster, if you are so inclined.  Yes, I am pushing my position, but trust me Grasshoppers, should you ever have the misfortune to need ‘actual justice’ (like you are suing a company for firing you unfairly, or someone you love was wrongly accused, but couldn’t afford an expensive attorney) you would be well served to have someone else sitting up on that bench for the rest of his (and most likely your) life.  Alito is straight out a company man, (and that’s the kindest thing I can say) and believe me; most of us couldn’t afford to work for his company!

Also, this afternoon before our Luna goes Void, she conjuncts Pluto, planet of power—yee, haw!  Perfect time for us to call, let our voices be heard, and USE the ‘rights’ of a democracy—while we still have one!

By the way, my friend and compadre on the site, Pam Burns-Claire, has thoughts on The Times that are good to hear important to remember, go to As the Spirit Moves Me…she can talk of these things without steam coming out of her ears (I really, really admire that).

As we all go around and around the Game of Life on Earth, each time that the revolutionary transit of Chiron in Aquarius arrives, it is an attempt for The Body of Humanity to level the playing field, with power redistributed back to the people, and then (of course) back we go again.

Lest you misunderstand, the power I speak of is only about creating good schools, clean transportation, health care for all, and respect for every citizen! It’s the American Dream, only for reals!

If people are given a chance, they rise to the occasion.  There are no natural ‘poor’ or ‘bums’, it is all due to a series of events that occur (karma) and how much support they are given when they hit  those ‘hard times’.

Ask yourself one thing; who would George W. Bush be if his life were like ours?  What if he did not have infinite power from his family, and billions of dollars? How would justice have been carried out when he was arrested for a DUI?  For being caught with Cocaine?  For leaving his military post for a year?  For having a low C average in school? (Would he really have gotten in to Yale and Harvard?)

George Bush without money, would be in jail.  And without money or connections, Alito would send him there for a long, long time.

***********************************************************************

FILIBUSTER ALITO NOW

Harry Reid met with progressive lobbyists on Tuesday and told them he has nearly 44 votes against Alito, but there are 8 Democratic Senators who will not support a filibuster.

Only 41 votes are needed for a filibuster. If Reid has nearly 44 votes against Alito, every one of those Senators should support a filibuster or their vote against Alito is meaningless.

So call the Democrats who are leading this battle and demand a united Democratic filibuster:
Harry Reid (NV)
Dick Durbin (IL)
Chuch Schumer (NY)
Debbie Stabenow (MI)
Pat Leahy (VT)

Use these toll free numbers to call the Capitol: 888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641. If you can't get through, look up the Senator's District Office number in your phone book or here:
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt?command=congdir

Reid would not name the "Alito 8" who are blocking a Democratic filibuster - so we need to identify them and tell them not to betray the Democrats who funded them and voted for them.

The most likely suspects are the "Red State" Democrats:
Tom Carper (DE)
Kent Conrad (ND)
Byron Dorgan (ND)
Tim Johnson (SD)
Mary Landrieu (LA)
Blanche Lincoln (AR)
Mark Pryor (AR)

Also call these "Blue State" and pro-choice Republicans:
Lincoln Chafee (RI)
Susan Collins (ME)
Lisa Murkowsky (AK)
Bob Smith (OR)
Olympia Snowe (ME)
Ted Stevens (AK)

For extra credit, call all the 2008 Presidential candidates who are sitting Senators - Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Russ Feingold, and John Kerry - and tell them to either LEAD THE FILIBUSTER or FORGET ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT.

You can also send that message to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (202-224-2447) and the Democratic National Committee (202-863-8000).

THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT

Our 40th Year

The San Francisco Bay Guardian this week outlines the case for impeaching President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Guardian, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is one of the first newspapers in the country to call for impeaching the president.

The article, written by City Editor Steven T. Jones, cites top Constitutional lawyers and scholars as well as political figures to make the case that Bush and Cheney have abused executive authority to the point where they may well have committed impeachable offenses.

The article chronicles a growing grassroots movement that has largely escaped the notice of the mainstream news media. Jones' piece and an accompanying note by Executive Editor Tim Redmond, chide the leadership of the Democratic Party for its failures to press the impeachment issue.

IMPEACHMENT FORCED INTO NEWS AND ONTO MCLAUGHLIN GROUP

The McLaughlin Group political talk show devoted much of its discussion this past Sunday to the topic of impeachment. You deserve the credit for that. Steve Thomma of Knight Ridder said on the show that he receives 20-50 emails a day supporting impeachment and that he thinks the emails are "organized." He's right! They are organized here:
http://democrats.com/bush-impeachment-polls

The clip that McLaughlin plays from the Murtha-Moran town hall forum doesn't show either of them saying a word. Rather it shows the hundreds of us who were packed in the room cheering for impeachment.

The quote McLaughlin reads from Al Gore is not from his speech, but from his response to a reporter's question afterwards on impeachment -- what people in the room were promoting with flyers and shouts.

Just as we forced the Downing Street Minutes into the news, we are forcing impeachment into the news. And Congress will follow. Please take a minute to contact the major media and to write a letter to the editor of your local paper. It could save this country. Here are some tips:

Daily Stars

Moon in Sagittarius

Moon in Sagittarius trine Saturn in Leo @ 1:00 a.m.
Moon in Sagittarius square Uranus in Pisces @ 2:16 a.m.
Moon in Sagittarius sextile Neptune in Aquarius @ 4:17 p.m.

Okay, continuing on with our conversation about Chiron in Aquarius, since it circles almost exactly every fifty years, then we can easily look at the last two-three transits to take a look at what we were all doing, thinking and where we were going at those times.  Of course, there has never been a time quite like now (since the fall of the Roman Empire) so things are indeed, different, but there should be some threading themes to look at.

1955!  OHMYGOD!  We were ‘at the hop’ and ‘booming’ and living in a world of re-birth!  Everything was ‘perfect’—if you were white, middle class and comfortable with conforming!

It was December in 1955 when Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white man on the bus, starting the whole national debate about racial equality—which had only been the concern of dissidents, rebels and revolutionaries before that time—it was Aquarius all the way, folks, and you know there has been great strides since that time.  Now, no matter WHAT color or racial heritage you are, the poor of every color are being equally abused! (Did you all read that the White House has refused to give over papers concerning Katrina—to the committee investigating Katrina!!!!)  Great melodrama.

Moving back fifty years before this, 1905…What a HUGE time for change—on every level!

Leon Trotsky wrote about The Revolution—and everywhere you looked, the Old Order was being challenged!  There were Unions, and the beginning of major jobs with manufacturing.   Immigration was hip then, and the Earth had a lot to say, too…from the famous S.F. Earthquake of 1906, to the March 31 eruption of Mt. Vesuvius!!!  As I read through my history books, these years were so full of ‘new growth’ that I got a wonderful feeling of possibilities.  The theme of the times is Equality, Prosperity, and Opportunity—not through a spin-machine White House sound bite, but the sort of stuff that affects real people.  It has been the real people who have not seen the "spoils" of our War Economy, and (what I assume is due to Fear, the word I hear the most lately) the "people" are curiously quiet.

Still, some times it needs to get soooo bad, that fear becomes secondary, and those who are comfortable, finally feel it.  Since Chiron in Aquarius is an equalizer, I assume that a situation that gives us ALL greater perspective is heading our way; that way, ALL may have a chance again…that’s what Aquarius is all about.

Anyway, running late again, to be continued……
