The eclipse had already come and gone by the time I arose at 6:00 am.  At 6:30, standing by the kitchen sink, I watched the awesome sight of the beautiful full moon setting in the West.  Nothing like a full moon in the Valley of the Moon to make your day began in awe.    Beauty is the norm here on Terre Firma (thanks, Pam—I deputize ALL of you to help me improve my spelling!) and this morning’s beautiful ‘moonset’ was one of the best I have ever seen!

You all remember that Lunar Eclipses come with the Solar Eclipses—two weeks later, like clockwork—they’re a set!  The lights go out twice.  First the big light (Sun) then, two weeks later, the nightlight (Moon) follows.  We go, ‘light-less’ for a few moments, and without the lights stimulating us, we are in the realm of the sweet, comforting ‘Yin’ of the feminine, of the dark.

You know, the dark has such a terrible reputation in our times, (the essence of anti-feminism)  but the dark is NOT a place of evil, it is a place of respite.  The absence of light is space, and allows us a serenity that is not offered with the sensory stimulating light.  If we make friends with the ‘dark’ within us, we have a fear-less clarity, a sense of our own personal truth.  Anyway, just a thought!

And speaking of thoughts, some great ones from Pam Burns-Clair in her column be sure to catch it!  (Pam also sent us some terrific information about the up-and-coming elections here in California!  It is in Good To Know—a must read!)

And another email I received this morning reflected the sacredness of this day.  It touched my heart and I thought my friend who sent it would not mind if I shared it….

yesterday, after cleaning the house, sanding & priming the truck,
picking up the air compressor,
visiting some local artists in their studio-homes
and listening to jazz at the cemetery
we drove by a sign
"labor ready"
and we thought standing below, it might make a fine photograph

this morning, one hour before the full moon and eclipse, my waters broke

we invite you to pray with us, with all those in labor
in creativity
in birth
in breath
to bring about just and righteous change
through our acts of loving kindness

may we all meet tonight beneath the starry sky of the sukkah
and celebrate in joy and connection
as we welcome new hope
new life
new meaning
with each new breath

with much love to our spirit family,

michele, david, logan, azlan and our beautiful birthing baby

I will keep you all posted when this new human arrives!

No matter what is happening ‘out there’ (and I just realized that I never ‘Googled’ the news today —this is why I feel so light and happy!), this is STILL one of the most beautiful planets "we" have ever ‘created’!  It is no wonder souls crave to come here, so lets all get out there and thoroughly enjoy this blessed day!
