I really apologize to you, everyone—I had ‘one of those days’ yesterday and I did not get Dujour posted. It was especially sinful, as you all, I am sure, looked up at last nights sky and saw a gorgeous phenomenon— the exquisite crescent moon with a twinkling star beside her and wondered ‘who’ it was. This globe was so big and bright, it looked more like a spaceship than a planet, but it was our very own Goddess of Love herself, the planet Venus!
In the middle of the night between Friday and Saturday Venus and Luna slipped into Capricorn, two Diva’s lighting up that night sky, spinning our head around! Sometimes it’s not about politics or commerce—it’s just about beauty, and that’s just what these ‘girls,’ Luna and Venus, have brought to us, dazzeling us with their conjunction in our night canopy!
Having Venus in Capricorn is a fascinating placement, both for those of you who have this aspect in your own natal charts, and for the rest of us who will experience it briefly in our moving sky. Capricorn is not generally known for its amorous qualities, it is thought instead to be remote or unaffected—au contraire! In truth, all of the Earth signs are the ‘rulers’ of the realm of passion! Earthy, sensual, they are all about making things happen in the world of matter, not mind or even emotion; they are just concerned with the tangible and the touchable. We all feel this, don’t we, as look upon this conjunction in our night’s sky? Rain and all, romance is in the air! One more night to ‘make hay’ as they say…
Realizing that Time (my mortal enemy) is pulling me away, I will leave you with this little bit of info (tis better than nothin) and suggest that tonight you look outside and see the last bits of this conjunction. Venus & Luna will not be as striking tonight, as Luna is moving away from her friend Venus, but they will still be there in alignment—catch the show if your weather permits you to see it!

Moon in Sagittarius Void at 9:58 p.m.
Moon trine Saturn @ 1:19 a.m.
Moon sextile Neptune @ 8:01 a.m.
Moon conjunct Pluto @ 9:58 p.m.
I simply must say before I write about this day, that the three pages of swearing, raging, and sharing my fantasy about dropping Bush and Cheney into the middle of the Arctic Tundra (during a blizzard) that I deleted were very cathartic for me, and you should all try this as a form of ‘grounding’ for your day. The ‘delete’ button is like water—it just washes everything down the drain!
In case you haven’t heard, yesterday the Senate ‘sold the Arctic Wilderness’ down the river….unless a miracle happens, ugly, violent machines will come and kill everything in sight. Okay, back to that delete button…. What’s a mere citizen to do? We REALLY need to get ‘cooking’ on BioDiesel fuel---the only way to save ANYTHING is to ‘dry up’ the need for oil, and ‘starve’ the money machine. I know that things are being done….we’ll all stay tuned, n’est pas? We are on the outer edge of a very destructive century, and we are running out of stuff to destroy. (FYI, Folks, Wally just told me that the Senate passed this TEN YEARS AGO, but Clinton vetoed it!!! I really, really miss that man)
Okay, I know it’s Friday and I should be saying ‘sweet nothings’ to you guys, it’s Venus’s day and all…but, well, aside from the ‘doings’ of the Senate, it’s raining—I think I have a reaction to the barometric ‘drop’ that comes with moisture in the air.
It could also be that I am responding to the fact that our Luna Light is shining through the electric fires of Sagittarius, and she is heading for a conjunction with our buddy, Hades, aka Pluto, God of the Underworld, later this evening. Hey—did you all see that ‘they’ discovered (still checking, but ‘they’ are fairly certain) two more moons for Pluto?
What was thought before, was there was one moon, which was almost as large as Pluto himself, (Pluto is 1,413 miles diameter! Very itsy) and Pluto’s moon, Charon, is 728 miles across. Remember that Charon was the name of the Boatman who brought The Recent Dead across the River Styx? He held out his hand, you gave him a coin, and he would take you to The Other Side. So the planet Pluto, God of the Underworld’s Moon is this boatman. NOW, he’s got competition! Maybe we need more ‘ferrymen’, there’s such a ‘rush’ to the other side?
Speaking of astronomical activity, have you all caught a glimpse of Mars? Yes, all of those emails we all received were (partly) right, Mars is CLOSE, and even though in 2003 it was ‘the closest in 60,000 years’, this last week it has been more visible than it was then—something about the angle it has been traveling. It’s bright and beautiful, even if it DOES make people crazier. (Or is that just me?)
Well, we all adjust. Just like Orwell said. At first, we freak out that ‘they’ have taken our chocolate away. Then, we rejoice when ‘they’ tell us that they have actually given us chocolate (a lie, of course, but what do we know?) It’s an interesting universe these days.
Well, all of that aside, it’s FRIDAY….that’s enough to make any one happy (Back to our favorite Illusion!) And hey, OHMYGOD…the Sun just came up!! You should see it refracting off of the water-soaked leaves on the trees…so very beautiful…okay, maybe I’ll just press delete and start again…just kidding…we are all going to have to ‘sit’ with this, Grasshopper Darlings…we need to find our voices and speak for those who can not speak for themselves. That is what it means to be a Steward.

You know, some Dujours are easier to write than others. There are mornings when I get up with the topic of the day at the edge of my brain, and it spills effortlessly out on to the keyboard fueled by each sip of coffee I feed it. Other mornings I just sit at the keyboard and I float, adrift in the space between my ears, just trying to get a little ‘life raft’ to sit on, trying to find any pertinent thought at all to write about. This is why I tune in Google News. (It’s really not that I’m a masochist).
This morning I was REALLY having trouble getting a theme going but the battle actually started with the struggle to ‘get up’. The bed was warm, the room was dark, and my mind wanted to stay in Alpha zone—it’s really fun there, dreamy, less domination of gravity. But NO, I am a ‘good girl’ and I know that the animals need to be tended, the young one needed to be nagged on to school, and of course, Dujour needed to be written. So up I get, make that coffee, and I grab my calendar and look at the star pattern of the day. It’s fine, nothing remarkable going on today. I tune in Google News and see that there are stories about a secret torture camp, deaths in Ethiopia, deaths in France, deaths in Iraq, ‘back ally deals’ in the Senate, a photo of W. looking like Big Bird talking about Bird Flu, so no, nothing new or remarkable there. What possible words of inspiration can I impart to all faithful Grasshoppers on this Thursday (Jupiter’s Day) to open all of our minds to thoughts of wonder, insight and joy? After all, the Moon IS conjunct Mercury—in smart and savvy Sag! That gives us a philosophical spin and questioning consciousness! Humm…..
As luck would have it, I needed to go into Wally’s office to photocopy November for my little Dujour folder. He has a terrific bulletin board, full of old photos and little post cards and other inspirational stuff. Our photocopier is old and takes forever, so I stood there looking at all of the stuff on the board for quite a while, and amid the photo clutter I found today’s Dujour. From Wally's 'board of inspiration', here are two thoughts for your Moon/Mercury conjunct in Sag pleasure:
#1) from Jack Kerouac, “Pondering on death, with or without wine, brings enlightenment……. (Especially relevant, this being All Saints Season….not to mention wine harvest time in the Valley!)…..and then…..
#2)….from Albert Einstein….
“A human being is part of the whole, called by us the “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest—a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Einstein was really something, n’est pas? Pisces, you know!
Enjoy your Thursdays everyone—and don’t forget to ‘widen’ your circle!

Moon oppose Mars in Taurus @ 6:05 a.m.
Sun in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo @ 11:21 p.m.
Wowie Zowie! Did you guys see yesterday’s fireworks at the USA’s capitol?
Yippee!! “Give ‘em hell, Harry”, Harry Reid, Democratic Chair, called for a closed session to say that we will no longer allow the obstruction of the investigation regarding the misinformation that led us to launch a pre-emptive strike on a country was NOT our enemy (not then, anyway!). Reid just wants to be sure that this investigation (held up for two years while Saturn hid out in the sign of Cancer, one of the ‘secret’ signs) does not stop until we find out Who/Why/How this happened! After all, this war has caused over 100,000 Iraqi’s to die, (the people we were ‘saving’—a funny way to save anyone, eh?) not to mention, of course, the over 2,000 American soldiers (that we know of) that have given their lives to this phony ‘cause’. We don’t even COUNT those that are maimed for life, nor do we speak much about the fact that the Bush administration has introduced legislation to cut Veterans benefits and medical coverage. It gets just too darned expensive dealing with their pesky symptoms—depleted Uranium getting you down? Get OVER it!
What you saw, Grasshoppers, was the alignment of The Sun, The Moon and Jupiter—the planet of ‘Justice’, who, for once, meant it!!!
I was heartened, exhilarated, and optimistic, all things I have not felt (politically speaking) for a long time. Sometimes stuff works like it’s ‘suppose to—wow, huh?!
Today might be another contentious day in those capitol halls. The Moon squares Neptune (misinformation, rhetoric and the usual gobbledygook) the Moon opposes Mars, God of War (angry words but possible action) and The Sun squares Saturn, which might be a bit touchy for W., as the ‘Chief’ is always represented by The Sun.
Okay, right here was a long, long paragraph, now deleted with a flick of my finger. After I write this stuff, I realize that all of my delighted reverie about the foibles of W. is rude and not worthy of an ‘enlightened’ mind—to which I aspire (and fail at lately, as I have given it up for the more imediate gratification of the delights of revenge) Sigh. I guess I need to add a few more ‘lives’ on to the pile—I haven’t reached that place of fairness and compassion that I seek---oh well, this is just too much fun to gloss over! I will wallow in my gloating today, and strive for enlightenment, Mañana!
Anyway, sorry about yesterday’s Dujour—I actually DID write it! It was all about the New Moon, the alignment of the Sun, Moon and Jupiter, and how it’s supposed to be about Justice but I have given up on that—and look—my computer edited this column—and then Harry Reid rendered it moot!!! (For which I will be eternally delighted!)
Anyway, I will try to put this up on the site now. This machine is acting as if Mercury is Retrograde…you know they have their moods…
Here’s the Thought for the Day: Things change! Time is the cosmic equalizer, cleanser and tonic. Use time. In other words; have patience with your goals and needs. If you do not give up, usually everything comes around again.
(Just two more things, my friends...)
!) Pam sent this about the Arctic Wildlife vote, coming up soon. It is the beginning of the end of the last, pristine wilderness. Are we REALLY going to let this happen? WE NEED TO VISUALIZE a fair outcome--hey, miracles are happening these days....why not?
Arctic Wilderness
Thank Harry Reid (courage should always be acknowleged!)

Moon in Libra goes Void @ 3:17 p.m. Enters Scorpio @ 11:29 p.m.
Moon in Libra sextile Venus in Sagittarius @ 9:53 a.m.
Moon in Libra sextile Venus in Sagittarius @ 3:17 p.m.
Well, the ‘stars’ are in perfect alignment for this All Hallows Eve!
Our beautiful Luna is in her Balsamic (dark) phase, slowly moving towards her companion the Sun, whom she will meet and join in Scorpio in the early evening tomorrow on All Saints Day. The Dark of the Moon is called the Witch Moon (really!) so we have an authentic backdrop for our celebration this evening.
Yesterday, for the first time in a couple of years, I took the time to arrange an altar for the Day of the Dead. The last couple of years I just haven’t had the ‘Chi’ to do it, but this year I knew right where everything was (remember my frenzied cleaning spree? I had everything in a safe plastic box in the storage!)
In my Day of the Dead box I have a wonderful assortment of photos and memorabilia of all of our loved ones who are no longer walking on the Red Dirt Road of Earth. We have old, black and white pictures, sepia tone photos of The Elders—Parents, Great-Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles, etc…we have many newspaper ‘Obits’, several photos from the covers of memorial services, and a couple of collages that I have made when I wasn’t able to get a photo, with my old friends names glued into a ‘star’. It is always good to ‘see’ the whole group again, and to remember them.
When we trundle them out of storage to say, “Hi”, we always tell all of their old stories again! Wally loves family stories, and tells each story as if it were the first time he ever told them, and the boys laugh and listen as if it were the first time they ever heard them, too…very sweet. The last few years so many beloveds have joined the altar—far too many, far too soon.
You know, of course, that rumor has it that this is the time of year that the ‘veils’ between the worlds are the ‘thinnest’. It is said that between tonight, All Hallows Eve, and tomorrow, All Saints Day, we will straddle the space between the sentient (living, solid) and the ephemeral (memory, non-sentient). It is a time when the ‘eternal’ meets the ‘now’ and magic is in the air!
You know, I have always been fascinated by ‘eternity’ as expressed through science. Light, you recall, expands ‘infinitely’, in other words, it just keeps traveling! On these ‘roads’ of light, ride Time. So this means that the you that was once a baby, a toddler, a child, a teen, a youth, etc…is just now happening, on the light beams of Time somewhere off on 'Zoron' and other distant planets! We really ARE ‘eternal’, if we follow our lives as they travel on the ‘light train’ out into space. As for our ‘soul’, and its eternal journey, well—that’s one of The Mysteries, n’est pas?
Going from Eternity to the Here and Today….remember, Grasshoppers, that the Balsamic Moon is the most Yin of all moons? This ‘Witch Moon’, the dark moon, is the time when most ceremonies were held. Perfect!
We need ceremony this year!
We need ceremony because our people (the peoples of Earth) are divided! Our planet is sick. Our spirits are fragile.
So, hey….let’s all pool our energies tonight…..Mother Earth and Sister Moon have given us this perfect alignment of star-power—yin, dark, deep, soft, still.
Get those photos out! Talk to your ancestors, they might have some ‘pull’ from the other side! As long as we live, they live. Ask them for help with wisdom; ask them for help with courage. Then, get out there and participate! Too much going on to let ourselves relax.
What is a ceremony? It can be so simple.
Bring out your photos (even if it is only one or two of your loved ones from The Other Side) put them on a table top (or dresser top, any surface is perfect for an altar) and bring ‘goodies’ for them—I’ve heard they love them! Chocolate, especially, is BIG on the other side (rumor, again) and coins, flowers…and, of course, candles. One year we had a great Day of the Dead altar, and our cat, Rosebud, not to be 'outdone' placed her own offering--a deceased mouse--on the altar, too! It was an interesting touch. She definitely got the 'last word'.
The ceremony can simply be to arrange the photos, place the flowers, light the candle, and then sit in front of your altar and communicate, meditate, share your thoughts, and love and intentions with your ancestors. Visualize chords of light growing out from your heart Chakra and your ‘third eye’ (in the middle of your forehead) connecting you to your loved ones. You can do this ceremony alone, but if you have company, it is especially sweet.
Now, what is it that you would like to know? To do? To see? What do you wish to say to your loved ones? Let these chords vibrate, see them glow and carry the energy back and forth…yes, you might need an imagination, but it is a wonderful meditation, and you might be amazed what you will learn!
If everyone on the earth right now did this….and asked everyone who was ever on the earth to join them in a prayer for Peace, or ideas about respectful Solutions to ecological problems, or ways to understand Others, or with help for ways to feel Connected…if we ALL did this TOGETHER, then WOW! Can you imagine what could happen? Joining our minds in love could turn the tide. Love is the power-force of connection!
Well, I don’t know about YOU, but you know what I’LL be doing tonight!
Enjoy this holy day. Pray for Peace.

You know, it’s a strange thing for me, writing Dujour. It’s half teaching, (teaching astrological stuff to you all and teaching ‘how to write and be disciplined’ to myself!) and the other half is like writing a diary! I am so linked ‘in and out’ that I forget that half the time, you all do not know what the heck I am talking about—sorry!
Pam wrote in and asked who this baby was, a minor detail that I neglected to write you all!
This sweet newborn, Evre, wound up in such a prominent place on the site, due to the lovely verse his mom sent when she went into labor. It made me feel good, so I wanted to share it with you all! It must have struck a chord—I received three emails about it—so I thought that ‘good
news’ for a change was a welcome relief to our battered collective selves. Sorry if I neglected to tell you the basics, like who ARE these people!
Erev’s mom is my friend and someone that I have had the privilege of ‘reading’ for, for years. Her name is Michele, and she has raised two remarkable sons, Logan and Azlan. They are brilliant and extraordinary young men, their stories just amaze me each year when Michele comes in and ‘reports’ the years events. I know they will get out there and ‘change the world’ for the better (and not a minute too soon) so I was excited about this little new one, who will be the first child for his dad, avid, and the only grandchild in this family. Boy, are they all UP for him! It is good to come to Earth if you are wanted and loved, and after the revenging effects of the morning exposure to Google News, I just got carried away with following a ‘happy story’. Thanks for sharing it with me, and sorry about the missing pieces of the story.
Pam also wondered about Wilma—she asked where I heard that this storm would miss USA shores, since when she looked, it was coming right at it! Good question, Pam, and of course as it is The Weather; it changed immediately after I wrote it! I got my info on Google, of course. We are not done with this storm yet, and as I mentioned, it will hit that ous cusp of Gemini/Cancer tomorrow.
Now, there’s one more personal and BIG piece of news.
You know my wonderful spouse, Wally, is a mighty hunter. No, not of living things (Buddhist) but in the way a great Leo male hunts these days—on eBay!!! Darling Wally has found the object of desire for any one over fifty (that would be us); cheap on line, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho—he has bought a Winnebago!! Okay, the big news is, we are leaving tomorrow to go and get it, and drive it home. If all goes well and it has an engine) we will be back by Wednesday.
What does this mean to all of us here?
Yeah, you guessed it. No FRESH Dujour! Now, I say fresh, because I have put the days that we are gone, ‘in the can’ and I will post them tomorrow morning. Daily stars and all. But GUESS WHAT? You know we’ve talked about that ‘Irony Committee’ who runs everything? Well, they have been at it again. Here I am lately, diddling on and on about the Moon, and then we take off, and all ‘astrological heck’ breaks out! There are three major celestial events that will take place, while we are off driving the North Country! I will skeletal sketch them, but you know I am trying to pack, work, write the lists about what the animals need (not to mention, the ‘kids’) and so it will be a thin sketch at best.
I will post the ‘missing week’ tomorrow a.m.
So, back to today.
Here on Venus’s day (Friday), Venus is one of the planets to make an exact aspect. Early this morning she will sextile Neptune, and a Venus/Neptune sextile is a creative, harmonious, imaginative and loving energy! Too bad it ‘peaks’ at 8:25 a.m., but you know the drill—the aspect prevails throughout the day.
The other exact aspect du jour, is via our Moon, and it is rather frisky. Luna opposing Pluto—a David and Goliath thing—and I am brought to ind the storm again. (Or heck, it could be more stories about Tom Delay, a Plutonic sort of guy (Pluto--the Underworld) if I ever saw one!) This will be exact this afternoon at 1:18, and you might feel this one as anxiety. Don't forget that anxiety is just an interpretation of a type of high-powered energy! Without getting 'into' a specific definition of what you think it is, it is just great rocket fuel.
But you know, for the first time in weeks, that big old YOD is outta the sky! Jupiter moved out of position last week, but right as it left, the Sun moved in to the exact position of the third ‘spoke’. Now Sol has slipped out of orbit, and in fact, will move into Scorpio soon (Sunday! This is one of the three celestial ‘events’ that I referred to). What this means is here is a chance of feeling more balanced and we might get our ‘illusion of control’ back again. You know, it’s always something, but I may be imagining it, but I think I feel clearer! Of course, it could be just knowing I get to go on this unscheduled vacation. Humm…
Anyway, you know your assignments, Grasshoppers…it’s Friday…you are to get out there and celebrate life! Venus needs her ‘offerings’ and I think that the world desperately needs our joy. Remember the song, “What the World Needs Now is Love”. Truer words never spoken.

Well, as we follow our ‘developing stories’, we are relieved (Wilma) and overjoyed! (Baby)….Wilma looks as if she will avoid the shores…at least the shores of the states. Hopefully, she will also avoid the shores of the Yucatan….let’s keep these swirling winds in the ocean from whence they originate! Speaking of…do you all GET why all of these storms are developing? The Gulf Stream is around ninety degrees!!! Oh yeah, but there’s no proof of ‘global warming’……ha ha ha…..
Gemini Moon’s other influence, when it isn’t assisting deadly hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean is generally much more fun than that. We are often more alert, our minds and feelings are (for once) on the same ‘team’ and we can say what we feel and generally make sense! Luna will hang out here until the wee hours of Saturday morning, and it is actually Saturday that the aspect returns when the previous hurricanes have hit, so this day is the most critical. If the winds pass by, by then, we will let out the last breath. Hey, west-coasters….it’s different for us, eh? We get no warning with our earthquakes! We get surprise, they get dread and anticipation. I like ours better. (What I don’t know won’t torment me!)
And now, for the promised result of our baby watch! Little Erev has one of my favorite things—a Taurus moon! My sweet spouse has one, as does my oldest son and nephew, Justin, who has lived with us for years. I am a connoisseur of this aspect, as it makes for a sweet, cuddly, sentimental and yet strong person. With this birth, our lucky planet Earth gets one more fabulous human to carry the beautiful energy of this
aspect, and I KNOW for a fact that this little being has chosen a life where he will be loved, honored, and supported completely. Sometimes being human is WORTH IT! Congratulations Michele, David, Logan and Azlan, on this wonderful new member of your tribe! Here is what I received this morning ‘in the mail’
